About Us
Fundación Escala is a nonprofit civil society organization with authorized tax-deductible status, which is only applicable in Mexico and the United States. Operating since 2016 in Escalerillas, Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico. This community faces high levels of social vulnerability and is located near the Escalerillas landfill site.
Mission VisionTo promote health through accessible medical and psychological care, with a focus on prevention and holistic well-being for families in the community of Escalerillas and surrounding areas.

The Community
The community of Escalerillas developed around one of the largest landfill sites in the State of Mexico.
More than 4000 families live in Escalerillas, most of them facing poverty, living in informal housing, and lacking access to basic services.
Over 40% of the population has no access to healthcare services, and more than 60% lack social security—well above the national average.
The municipality also has the lowest ratio of doctors per medical unit in the entire State of Mexico.

What We Do?
Escala Psychological Clinic
The Escala Psychological Clinic offers individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as workshops and community courses open to the public.
Escala Medical Clinic
Our primary care medical clinic provides general medical consultations, a small pharmacy, basic nursing procedures, chronic disease management, health education, well-child visits, and prenatal care.
Community Events & Outings
We organize events to foster community bonding. Our main annual events include the Christmas Posada and Children’s Day celebration. We also arrange outings to recreational and educational sites in Mexico City, giving children and youth the chance to enjoy fun and enriching experiences.
Medical Brigades
Each year, 15 general practitioners and specialists (ophthalmologists, pediatricians, psychologists, otolaryngologists, orthopedists, etc.) provide free medical consultations to more than 400 people in a 10-hour session with the support of 50 volunteers. In addition to the consultations, we provide any necessary free medication to each patient.
Campaña de Despensas
Campaña de recaudación y repartición de despensas básicas que se llevó a cabo durante la pandemia de COVID-19 como apoyo a las familias que se quedaron sin trabajo. Se entregaron más de 900 despensas a las familias de Escalerillas.

Sponsor One Month of Diabetes Treatment for a Patient
Your monthly donation covers follow-up consultations to monitor blood sugar levels (including test strips and a glucometer), along with a personalized treatment plan for a patient diagnosed with diabetes. Treatment may include oral medication (metformin) or injectable insulin (glargine, NPH, or Humalog Mix), depending on the patient’s needs.

Apadrina a un paciente con diabetes En México, 12.4 millones de personas viven con diabetes
La diabetes mellitus o diabetes tipo 2 es la más común en personas mayores de 60 años; sin embargo, puede presentarse a cualquier edad.
La diabetes se manifiesta cuando el páncreas no produce suficiente insulina o el organismo no la utiliza eficazmente para regular el azúcar en la sangre.
Los síntomas de la diabetes incluyen:
● aumento de la sed y de las ganas de orinar
● aumento del apetito
● fatiga
● visión borrosa
● entumecimiento u hormigueo en las manos o los pies
● úlceras que no cicatrizan
● pérdida de peso sin razón aparente
En Fundación Escala atendemos a 19 pacientes con diabetes.
El tratamiento que ofrecemos incluye:
● Consultas de seguimiento para monitorear los niveles de azúcar (tiras reactivas y glucómetro)
● Medicamentos orales (metformina) o inyectables (insulina glargina/insulina NPH/insulina humalog mix) según el caso.
